JOB TITLE: Release of Medical Information Clerk
LOCATION: Lewistown Hospital
DEPARTMENT: IT-Health Information Management (HIM)
WORK SCHEDULE: Days (Hours 8:00AM- 4:00PM)
WORK TYPE: Full Time
JOB SUMMARY:
Responds to requests for the release of medical information contained in medical records.
Performs duties to support the goals and objectives of the Medical Center in its efforts to provide quality patient care and patient satisfaction.
Works under the supervision of Supervisor/Team Leader, Release of Medical Information.
COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS:
Demonstrates good organizational skills and effective communication skills.
Demonstrates competency in medical terminology.
Demonstrates ability to perform basic math calculations and keyboarding tasks.
Demonstrates telephone skills.
Demonstrates ability to deal with the public in a customer-service relationship.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
Prior medical records experience required.
Minimum six months of on-the-job training to become familiar with job duties required.
Successful completion of a post high school medical terminology course required.
WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Work is typically performed in an office environment.

GEISINGER-LEWISTOWN HOSPITAL: is a 123-bed acute care community hospital serving the 80,000 residents of Mifflin and Juniata counties and members of the contiguous counties of Centre, Perry, Snyder, and Huntingdon. Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
