JOB SUMMARY:
Supports the Department of Utilization Review and the staff in their day-to-day responsibilities. Ensures clerical activities provide efficiency and organization to the department. Performs duties and tasks in accordance with performance standards established for the position. Plays a key role in ensuring information is released to payers and physician level review. Frequently works with highly sensitive and confidential information. Conducts all job responsibilities according to the Mission and Values of Geisinger Health System.
Directly accountable to the Director of Care Management / Utilization Review.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma required.
Minimum of three years of hospital or health care based work experience preferred (hospital operations, physician office, payer or facility/agency).
Minimum six months to one year secretarial experience required. Graduate of business or secretaries school preferred
WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Work is typically performed in an office or clinical environment.
Must allow for 7 days per week, 24 hour per day scheduling.
Weekend, holiday rotation, and on call may be required.
Flexibility in site or work.
Travel may be required.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
