Responsible for coordinating and conducting training and/or skill performance/competency evaluation of participants in life support educational activities. Responsible for ensuring the very best participant experience by optimizing all customer interaction. Foster a positive work environment through mutual support and cooperation and adheres to Geisinger and department specific Service Standards.
Assists the Resuscitation Training Coordinator with training and reporting activities. Directly accountable to the Operations Manager of Nursing Education.
1. Demonstrates thorough knowledge of assigned American Heart Association (AHA) and Emergency Cardiac Care (ECC) training course content.
2. Meets AHA standards and teaching requirements.
3. Assures that all record keeping is completed in accordance with the AHA standards and all required reports are submitted in a timely manner.
4. Able to setup, operate, and troubleshoot audio-visual, computer equipment, training manikins and emergency equipment (i.e. defibrillator, AED)
5. Demonstrates clear, concise, complete, consistent and valid communication and presentation skills.
6. Demonstrates effective coaching or contracting skills to motivate and influence positive behaviors. Discusses alternative solutions with learners and individualizes learning goals and activities as needed.
7. Provides timely feedback; is sensitive to different perspectives, needs, or abilities of others and adapts behaviors accordingly. Demonstrates ability to handle conflict situations with diplomacy and tact.
8. Demonstrates problem solving and critical thinking skills; able to work independently; makes decisions and takes actions in accordance with guidelines and standards established by Operations Manager, Resuscitation Training Coordinator or training product/company (i.e. AHA, etc.).
9. Demonstrates dependability and readily accepts responsibility for assigned tasks and accountability for actions; efficiently prioritizes workload and makes appropriate use of time; evaluates and adjusts work schedule to meet needs of the department or learners based on observation or direction from Resuscitation Training Coordinator.
10. Demonstrates a willingness to work constructively and cooperatively. Seeks opportunity; finds solutions. Communicates significant issues to Resuscitation Training Coordinator or Operations Manager in a timely manner.
11. Serves as a strong role model in professional practice as evidenced by strong relationships with staff and members of other departments, effective communications, appropriate resource utilization and sound planning skills.
12. Assists Resuscitation Training Coordinator with efficient and cost-effective use of physical, financial and human resources.
13. Supports and adheres to the policies of Geisinger.
14. Promotes effective public relations and represents Geisinger in the professional community.
15. Performs other duties as required or assigned by emergency or other operational reasons for which the employee is qualified to perform

AHA Certified Instructor for BLS, ACLS, PALS.
Nursing or EMS experience preferred.
Two to four years of AHA teaching experience preferred.
Work is typically performed in a classroom environment.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
