Position: Janitor/Light Maintenance
Department: Lewistown, PA Corps, 9 S. Dorcas Street
Availability of Position: Immediate
Schedule: Part Time; 24 hours per week
Reporting Relationship: Corps Officers
Salary and Grade: $8.45 per hour; 70 Non-Exempt
Position Overview: The duties of the janitor/light maintenance worker is to clean and maintain facility and grounds in a proper and timely manner. To communicate to supervisor of supply and maintenance needs in a timely manner. Maintain a good driving record. Must follow Salvation Army policies and procedures. Communicate and work well with other staff and volunteers.
Regularly sweep, mop, vacuum, and clean meeting rooms, bathrooms, classrooms, and chapel on all floors including basement.
Regularly empty waste cans in all rooms and bathrooms of the facility.
Regularly sweep and mop all stairwells and hallways of the facility.
Weekly assist with "ragging off" clothing in Clothing Store.
Weekly assist with cleaning receiving area.
Weekly assist with preparing food boxes.
Weekly assist with picking up donations including furniture.
Weekly clean all glass doors and windows.
Weekly sweep all sidewalks and stairs.
Seasonally shovel and remove snow as needed.
Perform all other duties as assigned.
Relatively good health
Good driving record
Work well with others
Must be able to keep information in a confident and secure manner.
High school diploma/GED equivalent
Able to work with hand tools and small power tools as needed.
Able to handle various types of equipment- buffing machine, vacuum, leaf blower, lawn mower, etc.
Must be able to work independently.
Must be able to lift 30 pounds
Knowledge of electrical and plumbing
Must have a valid PA driver's license and pass TSA van testing.
Child Protection Clearances PA Act 153 requires that all prospective employees complete the following clearance and background checks: PA Child Abuse History Clearance, PA State Police Criminal Record Check and FBI Criminal Record/Fingerprint Check.
Must have an understanding of and appreciation for the Mission of The Salvation Army.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
